Thoko Didiza Throws Hat into Ring for ANC Top Job As Presidential Hopeful

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has officially entered the race to succeed ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa, according to sources. Didiza, a prominent figure in the ANC, is expected to face off against Deputy President Paul Mashatile and ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula for the top post.

Didiza has reportedly secured backing from Ramaphosa and party national chairperson Gwede Mantashe, with insiders suggesting she is their preferred candidate. Her candidacy is seen as a surprise move, and her chances of winning are being closely watched.

As Speaker of the National Assembly, Didiza has several departments in the government, including Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development. The ANC's 2027 leadership election is shaping up to be a fierce contest, with several ANC heavyweights vying for the top job.
