BREAKING NEWS: NFP Withdraws from KZN Government of Provincial Unity

The National Freedom Party (NFP) has officially pulled out of the KwaZulu-Natal Government of Provincial Unity (GPU), effective immediately. The party's National Executive Committee (NEC) also instructed its provincial chairperson, Mbali Shinga, to step down as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development.

In a letter to Shinga, NFP Acting Secretary-General Sunset Bheki Xaba gave her until 9 a.m. Thursday, January 8, to resign. This move is seen as a significant blow to the fragile coalition government in KwaZulu-Natal, potentially plunging the province into uncertainty.

The NFP's withdrawal leaves the GPU without a clear majority, sparking concerns of a power struggle and potential instability in the province. The party's decision is reportedly driven by disagreements within the coalition and a desire to realign its political strategy.
