BREAKING NEWS: Female Attorney Gunned Down in Johannesburg CBD

A female attorney was shot dead in broad daylight outside the Johannesburg CCMA office this morning, in what appears to be a targeted hit. The victim was approached by a man who opened fire, shooting her in the head three times, as she walked towards the CCMA offices around 9am at the corner of Fox and Joubert streets. The gunman fled on foot across the street to a waiting vehicle and escaped.

The attorney, whose identity hasn't been officially released, was handling a labour dispute at the CCMA, possibly involving a mining company and workers over retrenchment pay-outs. She was a familiar face in the area, frequently assisting with cases related to unfair dismissals and unpaid wages.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with one witness saying, "She was coming out of her car, heading to CCMA, when the man came close. He shot her in the head three times." Another witness reported hearing four gunshots.

Police cordoned off the scene for several hours while forensic teams worked. The victim's body was removed by a forensic pathology vehicle shortly after midday. No arrests have been made, and Gauteng police have yet to issue an official statement or confirm the victim's identity.

This incident has raised concerns about safety for legal professionals near court and CCMA precincts in Johannesburg. Investigations are ongoing.
