BREAKING NEWS: Mugabe's Son Denied Bail in South Africa Shooting Case

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, has been denied bail in a South African court. The 28-year-old is facing charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm after a 23-year-old gardener was shot at his Hyde Park home in February. Mugabe's immigration status in South Africa is reportedly in question, with authorities citing his lack of documents as a flight risk.

Mugabe claims the gardener shot himself, alleging the victim was fired for performing witchcraft at his residence. He stated the incident occurred after the gardener returned, leading to a fight and the gun going off. However, the firearm used in the altercation remains missing.

Mugabe's case has sparked public debate, given his high-profile family background and history of legal troubles, including a 2024 arrest in Beitbridge for disorderly conduct and a 2025 incident in Mazowe involving armed men and a mining concession dispute.
