BREAKING NEWS: Thabo Bester's Bid to Testify Before Parliament Rejected

Parliament's SAPS Ad Hoc Committee has rejected Thabo Bester's request to testify before MPs. Bester, the convicted murderer and rapist, had sent a letter to the Committee seeking to appear and provide testimony. However, the Committee deemed it "too late in the process" and suggested alternative avenues, such as the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services.

Committee Chairperson Molapi Soviet Lekganyane expressed frustration with Bester's submission, stating that as a convicted criminal who escaped from prison, he isn't justified in seeking to appear before the Committee. Lekganyane emphasized that Parliament shouldn't be seen as promoting lawlessness, especially considering Bester's history of escaping custody and skipping the country.

Bester is awaiting trial on several charges and had been moved from C-Max Prison for security reasons. The Committee's decision reflects its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that Parliament's processes aren't used for frivolous purposes.
