Tshwane Metro has suspended Deputy Police Chief Umashi Dhlamini following allegations of corruption and misconduct

Tshwane Metro has suspended Deputy Police Chief Umashi Dhlamini following allegations of corruption and misconduct related to a security tender. The allegations were made at the Madlanga Commission, where it was revealed that Dhlamini allegedly received a list of seven security companies from the EFF, which were bidding for a Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) tender.

According to testimony, Dhlamini instructed Sergeant Fannie Nkosi to approach Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi to verify the companies, allegedly linked to EFF leader Julius Malema. WhatsApp messages presented as evidence show Dhlamini's involvement in the tender process, with some messages referencing meetings with ActionSA and EFF representatives.

The suspension comes amid scrutiny over Dhlamini's role in the tender process, with allegations of political interference and corruption. The ANC in Tshwane has called for a forensic investigation into Mnisi's conduct, citing financial mismanagement and tender manipulation.
