The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape has confirmed that social media influencer Musawenkosi "Musa" Khawula is still at large, with an active warrant of arrest issued for his alleged involvement in the 2022 murder of his former boyfriend, Wandile Khambule.
According to official correspondence from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Khawula faces charges in the Vredenburg Magistrates' Court and was released on bail following an initial court appearance. However, he failed to attend proceedings on 28 January 2025, leading to a warrant of arrest being issued and his bail being forfeited on 11 February 2025.
The NPA has liaised with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Vredenburg, which is actively tracing Khawula to bring him before court. The authority emphasizes that Khawula's continued absence prevents justice from being served in this serious matter. Khawula, known on social media as "Gossip Girl", has not publicly commented on the latest developments.
The case has sparked widespread interest and concern, given Khawula's influential social media presence and the serious nature of the charges. The NPA's confirmation of the arrest warrant serves as a reminder that justice will be pursued, regardless of the accused's public profile.
The police are urging anyone with information on Khawula's whereabouts to come forward, emphasizing that his capture is crucial for the case to proceed. The victim's family and supporters are still seeking closure, and the community is watching the developments closely.
Khawula's disappearance has raised questions about accountability and the challenges of tracking down suspects who evade the law. The authorities are determined to bring him to justice, and the case will likely be a test of the system's ability to handle high-profile cases effectively.
