BREAKING NEWS: Mother Speaks of Missing Omphile Sethole, Says She Last Saw Her In December 2025

The mother of Omphile Sethole has said she last saw her daughter in December 2025, until the child allegedly went missing while sleeping at her grandmother’s home in Mokopane over two weeks ago.

Some people have raised concerns about the circumstances of Omphile’s disappearance. “It is concerning as to how she took so long, same country yooh how do you take so long to visit your own child,” said one of the people.

More than two weeks after 2-year-old Omphile Sithole disappeared from her grandparents' home in Ga-Mabuela village outside Mokopane, her mother Nompumelelo Sithole says she is struggling to understand how her child could vanish while under the care of her paternal grandparents.

The toddler went missing from her bed earlier this month while staying at the family home. Her mother said she last saw Omphile in December 2025. The grandparents were arrested on Friday last week and appeared before the Mahwelereng Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of child neglect.

They remain in custody and are expected to return to court next week Monday for a formal bail application. The case has drawn attention to child safety and family oversight in the province.
