Pretoria – The South African Police Service’s Political Killings Task Team, PKTT, has named National Coloured Congress MP Fadiel Adams as a wanted suspect in connection with alleged interference in the murder case of African National Congress politician Sindiso Magaqa.
SAPS said on Tuesday that Adams is wanted for fraud and defeating or obstructing the course of justice. According to police, he interfered with convicted hitmen in the matter, including Sibusiso Ncengwa, at a sensitive and advanced stage of the investigation.
The murder of former ANC Youth League Secretary-General Magaqa is among the task team’s high-profile cases. Last year, the team secured a conviction after one of the accused pleaded guilty and implicated former uMzimkhulu municipal manager Stanley Sikhosana.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the task team had flagged concerns of interference by Adams.
“The South African Police Service Political Killings Task Team is calling on Mr Fadiel Adams to present himself at his nearest police station in connection with a case of fraud and defeating and or obstructing the course of justice,” Mathe said.
Authorities said several attempts to locate the MP have failed and continue to look for him. Police urged Adams to co-operate with law enforcement.
