BREAKING NEWS: King Misuzulu kaZwelithini Calls for Calm Over Undocumented Foreign Nationals Marches

KwaZulu-Natal, – AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has urged South Africans to remain calm amid ongoing tensions surrounding marches by undocumented foreign nationals. The monarch made the remarks during a courtesy visit by Democratic Alliance federal leader Geordin Hill-Lewis to the eMashobeni Royal Palace in KwaZulu-Natal.

King Misuzulu emphasized the need for peace and dialogue as communities across the country express concern over immigration issues. He called on all parties to avoid actions that could escalate tensions or lead to violence. The meeting between the King and Hill-Lewis comes at a time when several organizations have planned or staged marches to demand stricter action on undocumented migrants.

Both the royal house and the DA said the engagement focused on community stability and finding solutions through lawful processes. Police and local leaders continue to monitor the situation in areas where protests have been announced.

Community concerns grow:

Residents in several KwaZulu-Natal townships have voiced frustration over service delivery pressures and job competition, which they link to undocumented migration. Community leaders say they want government to enforce immigration laws while protecting human rights. The marches have drawn mixed reactions, with some supporting the calls for action and others warning against xenophobic rhetoric.

DA outlines position:

During the palace visit, Hill-Lewis reiterated the DA’s stance that South Africa must uphold the rule of law and secure its borders. He said the party supports peaceful protest but opposes any form of vigilantism. The DA leader added that sustainable solutions require cooperation between national government, traditional leaders and local communities.

Royal house stresses unity:

A spokesperson for the AmaZulu Royal House said King Misuzulu believes unity is critical during times of social strain. The King urged South Africans and foreign nationals living legally in the country to respect each other and work together for development. He also called on law enforcement to act firmly but fairly to maintain order without infringing on constitutional rights.
