Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau has tested positive for COVID-19. His office confirmed the result on, saying the minister is isolating in line with health guidelines.
The department said Tau is in good spirits and experiencing mild symptoms. He is continuing to work remotely while recovering. Medical advice is being followed and his schedule has been adjusted accordingly.
In a statement, the minister urged anyone who had recent contact with him to get tested and monitor for symptoms. “I encourage all those I have met with recently to take the necessary health precautions and get tested,” Tau said. He thanked the public for their support and well wishes.
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition said it has activated its COVID-19 protocols. Deep cleaning of the minister’s offices and meeting spaces is underway. Officials who were in close contact with Tau have been notified and advised to follow health department guidance.
